- 4 cans of diced tomatoes (each can weighing 14.5 ounces)
- 1 can of tomato sauce (14 ounces)
- 2 cans of concentrated tomato paste (each can weighing 6 ounces)
- 1 cup of crisp white wine
Step 1
Warm up some olive oil in a spacious pot on medium heat. Stir in the onion, green bell pepper, and garlic until the onion turns translucent, which should take around 5 to 10 minutes. Sprinkle in an array of brown sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, oregano, basil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Step 2
Merge the tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and a splash of white wine into the savory onion mixture. Let it all come to a gentle boil for roughly 10 minutes. Lower the heat and let it simmer, giving it a good stir every now and then until all the flavors harmonize, which should take at least 30 minutes.
