Ingredients
- 1. Begin by washing and draining a cup of raw basmati rice.
- 2. Combine two cups of water with half a teaspoon of salt in the mix.
- 3. Add in two tablespoons of olive oil to enhance the flavors.
- 4. Incorporate half of an eight-ounce bundle of uncooked fideo noodles.
- 5. Pour in half a cup of water to the mixture.
- 6. Finally, sprinkle a quarter cup of freshly chopped parsley for a touch of freshness.
Step 1
Start by bringing basmati rice, 2 cups of water, and a pinch of salt to a boil in a saucepan over high heat. Once boiling, lower the heat to medium-low, cover the pan, and let it simmer until the rice is tender and has absorbed all the liquid, usually around 20 to 25 minutes.
Step 2
In the meantime, in a large skillet over medium-high heat, warm some olive oil. Sprinkle a layer of fideo noodles into the skillet and cook them gently, stirring and turning frequently until they turn a beautiful rust-brown color. Add about 1/2 cup of water to the noodles and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and continue cooking until the noodles are tender and have absorbed the water, which should take around 5 to 8 minutes.
Step 3
Once the basmati rice is done, fluff it up with a fork and then gently fold in the cooked fideo noodles and some fresh parsley. Season with salt to your liking and give it all a good mix before serving. Enjoy this flavorful and satisfying dish!
Extra Tips & Suggestions
- 1. Keep your Basmati rice in an airtight container to maintain its freshness and prevent any unwanted odors from seeping in.
- 2. To add a pop of color and flavor, store some toasted sesame seeds separately in a small jar and sprinkle them on top when serving.
