Ingredients
- 8 oz of uncooked bowtie (farfalle) pasta
- 1 cup of ricotta cheese with part-skim
- ⅓ cup of Parmesan Cheese by Kraft®
- 2 tbsp of water
- ¼ tsp of black pepper, ground
- 12 oz of Italian pork sausage
- ⅓ cup of chopped yellow onion
- 2 cans of Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic, and Oregano by Hunt's®, each 14.5 oz, undrained
- 1 can of Tomato Paste by Hunt's®, 6 oz
- 1 ½ cups of shredded mozzarella cheese with part-skim, divided
Step 1
Prepare the pasta as per the instructions on the package, without adding any salt. In the meantime, in a small bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, a splash of water, and a hint of pepper; keep this mixture aside for later use.
Step 2
On a medium-high heat, warm up a large skillet. Toss in the sausage and onion, cooking them for around 3 to 5 minutes until the sausage crumbles and the onion turns tender, remember to stir occasionally. Once done, drain the excess liquid. Now, introduce the undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, 3/4 cup of mozzarella cheese, and the cooked pasta into the skillet; give it a good stir to blend everything together.
Step 3
Next, drop spoonfuls of the ricotta mixture on top of the pasta mix. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top. Lower the heat to a simmer, cover the skillet, and let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the ricotta mixture warms up and the mozzarella cheese melts beautifully.
