Ingredients

  • Two portions of oil, separated for distinct uses
  • A portion of fresh medium shrimp weighing eight ounces
  • Eight ounces of boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced into bite-sized chunks
  • Four ounces of andouille sausage or kielbasa, sliced into crescent shapes
  • Two ribs of celery, finely chopped
  • A mix of small red and green bell peppers, finely chopped
  • A sizable clove of garlic, finely minced
  • Two cups of water for the dish
  • A package of Knorr® Cajun Sides™ Red Beans & Rice, weighing 5.6 ounces

Step 1

In a spacious skillet, warm up a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. If desired, sprinkle some salt and pepper on the shrimp. Cook the shrimp until they turn a lovely pink shade, flipping once, for about a minute on each side. Once done, take them out and set them aside (note that the shrimp won't be fully cooked at this point).

Step 2

Next, season the chicken with salt and pepper if you like, and in the same skillet, give the chicken a nice sear on all sides, which should take around 5 minutes. Once browned, remove the chicken and keep it aside.

Step 3

Pour the other tablespoon of oil into the skillet and cook the sausage, stirring occasionally until it browns, which should take around 4 minutes.

Step 4

Toss in the celery into the skillet and cook it until it becomes translucent, about 3 minutes. Add the peppers to the skillet and cook until they slightly soften, taking about 2 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook until its aroma fills the air, around 30 seconds.

Step 5

Now, add water and Knorr® Cajun Sides™ - Red Beans & Rice to the skillet, stirring everything together. Let it come to a boil, then cover it, reduce the heat slightly, and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in the chicken and shrimp you set aside and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes, or until the rice is tender. Allow it to stand for 2 minutes before serving. Enjoy your meal!

Extra Tips & Suggestions

  1. 1. Keep your kitchen organized by designating specific storage areas for your Mardi Gras Jambalaya ingredients. Store your spices in a spice rack or drawer, keep your meats in the fridge, and your vegetables in the crisper drawer.
  2. 2. To add a touch of creativity to your storage, consider using mason jars or decorative containers to store your dried herbs and spices. This not only keeps them fresh but also adds a decorative touch to your kitchen shelves.
