- 3 tablespoons of finely chopped parsley for a burst of freshness
- 2 tablespoons of vegan Worcestershire sauce for a savory kick
- Seasonings: 2 tablespoons of salt, adjustable to taste, along with ground black pepper, onion and garlic powder, and a dash of ground cumin
- Utilize vegetable oil as necessary for cooking
Step 1
Begin by processing black beans in a food processor or blender, using just enough of the reserved can liquid to help the processor along. Transfer the blended beans into a spacious bowl.
Step 2
Next, pulse oats in the food processor until they reach a flour-like consistency, then add them to the same bowl. Grind sunflower seeds until finely crushed and mix them in. Proceed by blending mushrooms, bell peppers, and onion in batches in the food processor before incorporating them into the oat mixture. To this mix, add parsley, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and cumin, making sure to blend everything thoroughly using your hands or a rubber spatula. Adjust the consistency as needed by adding more processed oats.
Step 3
Shape the mixture into 15 compact balls, then gently flatten and shape the sides to prevent cracks from forming. Arrange the patties on wax or parchment paper.
Step 4
In a large skillet, heat oil to around 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) or medium heat. Carefully place the patties in the hot oil, working in batches if needed, and cook until they turn golden and crispy, approximately 3 to 5 minutes per side. Once cooked, transfer the patties to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil for about 2 minutes. Repeat the cooking process with more oil until all the burgers are done.
